SOCW 456 - Indigenous Family Caring Systems
This course develops an understanding of family caring systems from an Indigenous perspective. Topics explored include Indigenous world views, traditional roles of family members, the role that historical events have played in the development and current social realities of Indigenous peoples and the role that social workers can play in family wellness. Contemporary social work practices with Indigenous children and families are analyzed and critically reflected upon, with a particular emphasis on future directions in Indigenous child and family welfare.
