GEOG 306 - Critical Development Geographies
Using examples from “the local to the global,” this course investigates mainstream and critical international development theory and practice to re-think the ways in which ‘development’ has
been understood and to highlight geographical perspectives in formulating new and more
critical theoretical understandings. The course focuses on the links between the Global North
and South to investigate development theory and practice. We use international case studies to provide context-specific, gender-differentiated information about global inequality, debt, foreign aid, disasters and displacement.
